A little bit about Salsa!... You might be curious about the roots of Salsa. Well, musically speaking, the term Salsa, much like the term Jazz, is simply a word used to describe a fusion of a group of different Latin rhythmic styles that have in common the Clave beat. This is the infectious five-note syncopated and irresistible rhythmic beat of African origin!

Salsa has its roots firmly based in the Afro-Spanish musical traditions of dance and instruments originating in Cuba. Of particular importance was the Cuban Son dance, and instruments such as the bongos, claves, congas, timbales, and maracas, among others. These instruments exposed the deep currents of African rhythms in Cuba brought over by the slaves from Africa, and who in many ways greatly contributed to enriching the world of music. The tune playing on this website is Guiro 6/8 by all-time legend of salsa and acknowledged King of Mambo, the lateTito Puente. Salsa is a great hobby for all seasons. Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer is Salsa season. It is a great way to relax, keep fit and make new and interesting friends. And salsa has become a very popular activity worldwide, with very enthusiastic followers on all continents. It is great fun for all ages and cultures!
